Hi Jon,

The 'magnificent, universal siphonophore of a lie' is a wonderful phrase. I think you're right to question the idea that we're striving for 'greater truth' - it's easy for poets to use the word 'truth' in a grandiose way.

We'd love to come to the South West at some point - watch this space. If you have any ideas for suitable venues, do get in touch!

I grow more and more sad that I missed your show (though I'm certain you deserved that night off)! Still, I've been quietly enjoying your blog; hope you bring a pint to the southwest - quite massively beyond Hull - sometime.

That's an excellent article too, but I'm still unsure about this 'greater truth'; I don't think it's devaluing the beast to call it something more akin to a magnificent, universal siphonophore of a lie. When I write or read poetry, I can never determine whether I am seeking a 'deeper' kind of truth, or whether that is simply solipsism or innuendo. I can't even decide whether it would be less or more noble to accept the latter.

Still, as intellectual ineptitudes go, I'm quite happy to spend a lifetime with this one.

I saw your gig in Soho, in fact I was the chap behind the camera! Really enjoyed your set. Dylan Moran once said that there are two types of outcomes when drinking whisky. 1, you welcome people into your home and offer them anything and everything they could want. 2, you kick anyone and everyone out of your home, including your grandmother.

Wonderful ! I managed to get hold of a copy of 'a pint for the ghost' and came away with a swirl of ideas. It's dramatic, accessable, true to the spirit of the oral tradition of fireside ghost stories but also deals with thought-provoking big issues- consciousness, imagination,memory, legend, the outsider etc etc. Can't wait to see it.
